Personal Choice: Real Estate Photography

Introduction

The use of UAS for photography has been around for years. The need for real estate photography has been increasing exponentially as real estate agencies move to online applications and websites. Real estate agencies have found ways to use UAS and present properties like never before. By using UAS to capture real estate images, it allows for realtors to have a competitive edge on showcasing houses and acquiring images that maybe showcase the house along with the property that it sits on. Without UAS, it limits the photography to a much smaller capture range. For example, Figure 1 shows a property that was captured using a UAV.
Figure 1: As shown above, the image shows the house and even the surrounding property which normally would not be captured through a person taking the images.
The image displays a good portion of the property that would be beneficial to potential customers. In a real estate sense, these images can be "more attractive" to the customer and could entice them to purchase/rent out the property.

Methods

To capture these images, obviously a drone is needed to even get remotely close to being able to acquire these images. On the consumer and commercial market, remote operators tend to use DJI Mavic 2 Pros or Inspire 2. The Mavic 2 Pro is more for novice fliers and is readily easy to fly and acquire images. The Inspire 2 is for more experienced remote operators and is suited with a higher-end camera for increased professional photography. It is highly recommended for operators to use the Mavic 2 because they will be mostly contracted for easy jobs without a need for the "top-of-the-line" equipment. Once a drone is acquired, operators are able to use their UAV with the sensor that is equipped to acquire the images. It can be as simple as pressing a button so not much technical expertise is needed.

Discussion

With the use of UAS for real estate photography, it is beneficial for the real estate market as well as the UAS market. It allows for realtors to convey the property how they want, and it also allows them to convey it in a whole new way that was not possible before. The use of sensors for photography is essential because it allows for engineers to outfit UAV's for more advanced sensors and cameras and allows them to learn how to take larger, advanced cameras and condense them.

Conclusion

The use of drones for photography does not have any sight of stopping and continues to grow. By combining UAS into the real estate industry, it allows for photography technology to continue to grow and develop. Along with that, it also allows for remote pilots to get flight experience in other ways. Continuing to use UAS in numerous ways allows for the UAS industry to grow and develop. This is also beneficial to realtors since they can showcase their properties to their choosing.
